Der Rosenkavalier sparkles, notably in the famous waltzes, but also is poignant contemplating the passing of youth.

Berg’s Violin Concerto is dedicated “to the memory of an angel”, Alma Mahler’s daughter Manon Gropius.

The central movement of Franz Schmidt’s best known 4th Symphony also mourns loss as “a requiem for my daughter”.

Tickets available from St John’s Smith Square or from members of the orchestra.
