2nd December 2015

Cameron Burns
Conductor: Cameron Burns

Wednesday 2nd December 2015, 7.30pm
St John’s Smith Square

Programme:

– Sibelius: En Saga
– Strauss: Four Last Songs (with soloist Helena Dix)
– Nielsen: Symphony No. 4

Two 150th anniversaries of composers’ births. Nielsen’s symphony – “the life force, the unquenchable will to live”- was composed 100 years ago during World War 1. En Saga might be translated as ‘A Fairy-Tale’, but Sibelius said ‘it is [only] an expression of a state of mind’. Strauss’s Four Last Songs completes the programme.

Tickets are available from St John’s Smith Square or may be obtained from orchestra members.
